DSST COVID Family Relief Fund

DSST Families,

I hope that you and your family continue to be healthy and well.  We had a great start to E-School this week - and loved being back in “school” with your children. And, we have many aspects of E-School that we want to tweak and make better!

I know that many of our families and staff are hurting because of the COVID Pandemic and the resulting economic devastation. As a values-first, people-first organization, we must respond to those we love -  our students, our families, and our staff. Our response to this crisis is motivated by DSST’s View of the Human Condition, which lies at the heart of DSST. It says:

Every person desires to be affirmed for their unique gifts and talents and every person desires to make some positive contribution to the human story.

It is this view that motivates our response.  We want every member of the DSST Extended Family to survive this challenging time and recover to thrive to make that positive contribution to the human story.  To do so, this morning we launched the DSST COVID Family Relief Fund to support our 7,000 students, families, and staff.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 to assist with food and other critical needs of our DSST family. Phase one of this fund will focus on feeding our families and staff who need access to food. We know many people are struggling to put food on the table after losing their jobs. We are grateful to have formed a partnership with the Denver Metro Emergency Food Network (DMEFN) to produce and deliver nutritious meals to members of the DSST community who are in need.  DMEFN has agreed to scale their efforts to serve up to 1,000 DSST families and staff members in need. What can you do?  Two things

  1. Get Food Assistance! If you are in need of assistance, we hope that you take advantage of this Family Relief Fund.  This is open to all who need it! Click here to request assistance. You can also pick up breakfast and lunch at these dedicated DPS sites.
  2. Donate! If you are interested in contributing to this fund, you can make your donation here. Members of our Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors have already come together and raised the first $25,000 as a match. We are hoping our larger community can match their gifts and bring us to that $50,000 total.  Every dollar you give will turn into $2 dollars for the fund!

I am so grateful to be in the community with the DSST Extended Family during these challenging times.  We are a community of hope, of resilience, and of love. Thank you for sharing in this community with me.  Please sign up if you need food assistance and thank you for considering a donation to serve our larger community.

Be well,

Bill
