Last month, College View High School celebrated 100% of their founding class being admitted into college. Almost 90% of these graduates will be the first generation of their families to attend college next year. This class is full of dedicated and resilient students- and two of them are deeply involved in immigrant rights activism, both locally and nationwide. Fabi and Jasmine, activists and good friends, shared some highlights of their work, and their hopes and dreams for the years to come.
As college admittance letters continue to come in and Senior Signing Day looms around the corner, you can feel the excitement building across the network as we celebrate our incredible seniors. If it wasn’t for the epic bomb cyclone this week, Cole’s Class of 2019 would have celebrated their 100% college acceptance success on Thursday as well. But on Monday afternoon, middle schoolers, high schoolers, friends and family of the College View Founding Class packed into the gym, decorated with posters created by 9th & 10th graders, to celebrate their founding class.
Everything in our world has a starting point. An idea turns into a business, a baby turns into a child, who then becomes an adult; people and things build off that starting point and develop into their fully fledged form. For DSST Public Schools, it’s not different. We build our campuses out not all at once, but by adding a grade each year, starting in 6th grade.
