CV HS Hosts Community Vaccine Clinic

On Sunday, March 21, the Wolves at College View High School hosted a vaccine clinic in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), delivering 202 vaccines to local community members in just one day!

The CDPHE has been partnering with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) across the state to host vaccine clinics in communities of color that have been hit harder by COVID and/or have lower vaccination rates, and the team, led by DCI-I Gayle Bell, jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this. 

The CDPHE provided the medical staff who administered the vaccines, and as the CBO, the CV HS team quickly mobilized to organize the rest. This entailed crucial outreach to invite community members to the clinic, setting up the school space to efficiently provide vaccines, and finding volunteers to welcome clinic guests on Sunday and ensure the day ran smoothly.

The entire team at CV played a huge role in the success of this phenomenal afternoon. The facilities crew helped prepare the vaccine space for the day, multiple staff members created signage to help direct cars to the parking lot, the Front Office team prepared refreshments, and advisors worked tirelessly to get families registered for their vaccine.

On the big day, seven CV HS staff volunteers and three student volunteers made sure all clinic guests felt welcome, knew where to go, got their questions answered, and received translation support when the interpreters were busy.

The community members vaccinated this weekend will return on April 18 to get their second dose, and the dedicated team at CV HS is excited to welcome them back to their community school.
