The COVID pandemic has been a challenge for everyone, and the holidays can be a bright spot for many of us as we reconnect with our families and friends. But for some, the holidays can also pose additional burdens on those who may already be struggling.
That’s why Kayleigh Elbaum was especially excited after attending a community outreach meeting hosted by Eagle Automotive in Littleton, where her boyfriend Anthony works. Every year, Eagle Automotive sponsors families from nearby churches, but thought this year it might be nice to partner with a school. After mentioning that she teaches at a middle school in Southwest Denver, she received multiple offers to sponsor families in need on Thanksgiving.
Leveraging Flyer, Kayleigh sent out a message to all Henry families to enter a Thanksgiving Raffle and win a free, delivered Thanksgiving meal. At the same time, some advisors nominated families they knew would most appreciate this support, and between the entries and nominations, five families were chosen.
Once the winning families were chosen, they were asked to share more details about how they like to celebrate Thanksgiving, including whether they would prefer pre-cooked or raw ingredients, any dietary restrictions, and any special must-haves to include in their package. Everyone opted for raw ingredients so that they could cook together as a family.
Rhondi Bates, (wife of Eagle Automotive Owner Brian Bates), will not only be doing the grocery shopping for the Thanksgiving meals, but she’ll also be making deliveries on Wednesday, November 25 to each family. Two claps on two for the Pride and their larger community coming together so that everyone can have a Happy Thanksgiving!
