Hey! Are you reading this while in line at the grocery store?  Or perhaps while waiting for your friend to arrive at the bar? If so, good news. You can now actually click on the links and read At Our Core and other DSST news, even if you’re not connected to the DSST VPN.

That’s right team, you can now read the latest musing from Bill Kurtz and about important events around the network when and where you want to. The Helix is one tool we use to keep everyone informed of important issues and happenings around the network, and I’m happy to say we have finally moved the News and Blog portions of the Helix out from behind a firewall and into a place where you can read it anywhere and anytime.

In addition to reading Week In Review via email, we strongly encourage you to add this page to your homescreen on your smartphone. That way you can easily check out announcements and news while you’re on the go. On your way to Infusion but can’t remember where to park? Want to watch that cool Senior Signing Day video but can’t find the email? Now you’re able to find all this and more even when you’re not at DSST. It’s simple to add a page to your home screen, whether you are on an iPhone or Android device, which appears on your device as an app icon.

Apple | Android:

Since our founding in 2004, strong and robust communications with our staff has been key to building and maintaining a high-performing network.  As DSST continues to grow, our hope is to provide new ways for you to connect to what’s going on across the network and in the education landscape more generally.  If you have any questions or suggestions for content, feel free to reach out to greg.okuhara@scienceandtech.org.

In case you’re confused on what’s what, here are the basics on how we compile and distribute important information:

  • The Helix: The DSST employee intranet which houses curricular materials, employee resources (information on benefits, payroll, reimbursements, etc.), people development documents, a searchable staff directory, technology training playlists, and more. All of these resources are searchable through the search bar in the upper right hand portion of the screen. Additionally, the home page includes quick links to commonly used apps, as well as links to recent DSST blogs and education-themed articles which may interest you. This site remains accessible only when you’re connected to the DSST wireless network or via VPN.
  • The Helix Feed: The ***new*** site (blog.dsstpublicschools.org/helix) where you can access all DSST blogs and education-themed articles. The site is mobile-responsive and available anywhere you have an internet connection.
  • Week in Review: DSST’s weekly employee newsletter. Distributed on Fridays, the Week in Review contains links to the blog and news articles posted during the past week.
At Our Core: A regular blog, usually written by Bill Kurtz, which tackles local or national issues which affect the DSST community. We also want to cover topics which are relevant to you, so feel free to pitch ideas to greg.okuhara@scienceandtech.org.

We look forward to your feedback and continuing to celebrate the great work done across the network.
