Cheers to the Henry Pride!

As we announced earlier this year, due to continued declines in enrollment, Henry Middle School will be consolidating with College View Middle School next year. The Pride team has been INCREDIBLE during this time of transition, and as they prepare for the end of this chapter, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the students and staff who will carry their Pride spirit with them as they move on to their next exciting opportunities.

It’s been a roller coaster year for all of us, and the Henry Pride has faced not only the common challenges of remote learning and return to school, but also those of consolidation with a students-first focus.  However, the team at Henry brought joy every day to their students, whether in the classroom, or through the screen.

We are happy to share that many of our students are moving on to join the College View and Byers communities next year, where they will be warmly welcomed by the awesome teams at each campus. Equally important, we are thrilled to announce that the vast majority of the staff at Henry will be staying at DSST to be an integral part of the team at several different DSST schools. We’ve highlighted below just a few of the awesome Henry staff who share what they love about the Henry community, and where they will be bringing that same Pride spirit next.

Leah Burnside

Current Role: 6th and 8th grade science teacher

New Role: 6th grade science teacher at College View MS

What I Love About the Henry Community: Our school is very small, so our team is very close and our community is tight.  I’ve been inspired by the amount of talent and love that drives this team. Never have I seen such a healthy balance between drive, competency,  and humor at play in so many spaces as I have at my time at Henry!  #prideordie

Erica Foley

Current Role: Associate School Director

New Role: Associate School Director at Aurora Science & Tech

What I Love About the Henry Community: SO much! I love that the community is small and every student is known so well by their teachers. The team is incredibly caring of each other and of every child’s needs. They’re consistently taking action to improve our school community and pursue even better outcomes for our students and families!

Jae Berry

Current Role: AN Center Program Co-Lead

New Role: Next year, he’ll be joining Montview MS as a Social Worker

What I love most about the Henry community: The passion and commitment our teachers have for providing the best supports possible for students who have often been lost in the educational system.

We are proud of the Henry team’s dedication and resilience, and we look forward to seeing the awesome things they will accomplish next year!
