At the Holiday Party, we announced that Cole Middle School won the Core Value Award Nomination challenge, with a whopping 230 nominations. As the winners of this challenge, they get to choose a charity that will receive a $1,000 donation from the DSST network. Here’s why they’ve chosen Warren Village to receive this donation:
In the Cole community, we see first-hand the impact of housing insecurity on the life outcomes of young people and their families. Warren Village is a nationally-recognized two-generation program that supports single-parent families experiencing houselessness to transition into self-sufficiency. They support families via safe and affordable housing, parent services and advocacy, and early education and child care, including after school and social-emotional support. In fiscal year 2019-2020, 90% of residents transitioned into permanent housing.
As systemic racism and the global pandemic combine to increase the levels of houselessness, we are proud to support this organization because of their impact in our community and the larger Denver area.
