Everything you need to know before Infusion 2022

Posted by DSST Public Schools on 08/08/22

We are extremely excited to kick off the new school year with you at our all-staff Infusion event at the Denver Botanic Gardens this Friday, August 12, at 9 a.m.

As we gear up for the event we wanted to share a few details about the day to give you a peek into what’s in store including dress code, parking info, expectations and more.

Denver Botanic Gardens address:

  • 1007 York Street, Denver, CO 80206

Parking/Transportation:

  • Parking is very limited (only 300 spots). We highly encourage carpooling, biking or bussing.
    • Schools should consider using their activity bus to carpool to Infusion since parking will be limited. Please note, only team members who have been certified by their Athletic Director are allowed to drive the activity bus.
  • If you are driving, please allow 15-20 minutes for parking.
  • If you are thinking about using public transportation, RTD is free in August for all riders! Learn more here. Use routes #24 (York and Josephine Streets) and/or #10 (12th Avenue) to access the Gardens.
  • Note: York Street and Josephine Streets are one-way streets.
  • Plan to arrive by 9 a.m. If you arrive before then, please use the gate to the right of the main entrance (please see map). If you arrive at 9 a.m. please use the main entrance and let the people in the welcome center know that you’re here for the DSST event.
  • If the parking garage is full, park on the surrounding streets. Prior to parking, please check street-sweeping signs.
  • If you would like to bike, there is a bike rack near the main entrance.

Event Expectations:

  • Our core values (Respect, Integrity, Curiosity, Courage, Doing Your Best, and Responsibility) are the cornerstone of DSST and our events together. We ask that we all do our best to model and embody these values at Infusion!
  • Respect and Responsibility: Give our speakers and fellow participants your undivided attention and avoid distractions that can take away from the experience for yourself and others (i.e., phone use and side conversations).
  • Doing Your Best and Courage: Participate and engage in team-building activities that will be fun and a great way to get to know the DSST team better.
  • Respect: Our caterers will be outside, in the heat, serving and making sure you have a great breakfast, lunch, and happy hour. Please be patient as you will likely have to wait for food and beverages throughout the event.
  • Integrity: You are a representative of DSST, so please be mindful of any rules and guidelines set in place by the Denver Botanic Gardens.

Day-of Agenda:

  • Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. and will be grab-and-go. The event will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. The first half of the day will include Flower Person and Service Awards as well as keynote speaker, Michael Bonner. You can read more about him here
  • Lunch will be at 11:20 a.m. Programming will resume promptly at 12:30 p.m., with an alumni fireside chat. The rest of the day will be our team-building activities and the remaining Flower Person Awards before we dismiss for happy hour at 3 p.m. You can see the team-building map below.
  • You are encouraged to wander the gardens before we start, during lunch and during happy hour! Please enjoy the beauty of this year’s venue.

Other Notables:

  • We will host a happy hour in the Annual Gardens immediately after the event. Everyone will receive 2 drink tickets.
  • The weather is expected to be in the mid-90s for the event!
    • Bring a water bottle with you. Water stations will be available during the entire event.
    • Dress code is casual and we will be outside for the entirety of the event. You are encouraged to wear your DSST gear!
    • Plan to bring sunscreen, hats and/or umbrellas. We will have personal fans available, and we will be under a tent for a large portion of the day, but there will be lunch and a team-building activity where you will be out from under the tent.
  • We want to see and share your pictures, so be sure to use the #oneteambigimpact, #flourishingtogether and #DSSTInfusion2022 in your posts!
