KIPP Colorado & CDPHE Offer Vaccine Education

Written by DSST Public Schools | 05/10/21

We acknowledge that there are still lingering questions and concerns around the COVID-19 vaccine, especially within our communities of color. Therefore, we wanted to pass along an opportunity for those interested in additional vaccine education.  KIPP Colorado is partnering with the CDPHE to connect community members with health care providers to talk about the COVID-19 vaccine and answer any lingering questions you may have.

Event Details:

Day/Time: May 13th from 3:30 – 4:30

***Please note this is not a DSST specific event, so questions around our vaccine policy will not be addressed here

My name is Gabriel Lockhart, and I am a physician working for National Jewish Health with combined specialties of pulmonary medicine (lung specialty) and critical care medicine (run the intensive care unit). I moved to Denver in July, 2019 after a three-year fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where I was the chief fellow of my class. I am originally from Chicago, grew up in Cincinnati, and spent 11 years in Columbus, OH attending or working for Ohio State University. My current title at NJH is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, where I was recently named the Director of the Intensive Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital / National Jewish Health. I also spend time in the outpatient setting managing patients with COPD in my clinic at NJH. During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, I volunteered to work the ICU's in the Mt. Sinai Health System in New York City and now serve on the Governor's Expert Epidemic Emergency Response Committee (GEEERC) Medical Advisory Group for the state of Colorado in relation to the COVID-19 response, as well as the Colorado Vaccine Equity Task Force. I am very excited to be more involved in my surrounding Denver community, pleased to be volunteering for the Colorado Champions for Vaccine Equity."
