This week, in honor of the huge Byers Boys basketball win last week (they play DSST: GVR HS tonight and the winner moves on to the conference finals!) we’re highlighting two dogs named after sports stars- Jeter and Judge!
While both dogs are named after New York Yankees, they are originally from shelters in Southern California. They adopted both of them when they were 2 months old- legendary Jeter is now 6, and Judge (named after Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge) is 1.
Steven and his family moved to Denver from California this past June, and Jeter still embraces a healthy California diet, favoring all fruit, especially blueberries. Judge is not as picky and generally opts for anything his parents are eating, but really loves chicken.
While the days of surfing ocean waves and playing fetch on the beach are over for Jeter, both him and Judge have fully embraced the joys of Colorado- wrestling in the snow, hiking long trails, and napping. Jeter is still acclimating to the winter chill, and likes to wear his camo sweater on long walks in the snow.
Jeter and Judge love their dad, but he’s really only ever second best in their hearts. At the end of the day, they are true Momma’s boys.
The boys also have a neighbor friend named Levi, a 1 year old Golden Retriever. They love to look at each other through their fence, bark at one another, and touch noses.
