In a world of information overload, we all know that sifting through the many messages and news we receive on a daily, if not hourly basis, can be a challenge. It is compounded by fake news that continues to pervade social media platforms and websites. In times of pandemic, where emotions are already running high, fake news can be even more incendiary and harmful. For this week’s Project: Create challenge, K-12 students will have the opportunity to create a public service announcement or visual art piece (and perhaps, both!) addressing a societal issue in a factual way. The winners will receive 4 entry tickets and a gift basket from this week’s sponsor, the Denver Museum of Art, and will be featured on TV!
As always, there are two ways that students can participate in this challenge:
- Create either a public service announcement or infographic to share information about a STEM-related issue. These entries can be a short video or a one page infographic.
- Create an original work of visual art to show a social issue- this can be a painting, sculpture, photography, or drawing.
