We are extremely excited for Senior Signing Day 2018 tomorrow! As a reminder, please review the below and attached logistical information. There is a high chance of rain tomorrow so we are recommending that everyone brings a raincoat or jacket with them to the event.
Also, we will have a tweet wall at the event. Please share your excitement on Twitter using #DSSTSSD18. It would be great if everyone could start tweeting once you head to the Coliseum. We will be picking the top tweets to display on the big screen prior to the program. As another quick reminder, student cell phone use is up to the discretion of the school. Please connect with your Senior Signing Day lead regarding this information.
In addition, we have uploaded geofilters to Snapchat that will be available during the event.
Lastly, if you take any photos or videos at the event please upload them here. We would love to capture as many moments as we can!
Senior Signing Day Advisor Expectations:
- Students will move with advisors to, thru, and back to school from Senior Signing Day.
- Advisors are responsible for ensuring that they load their designated bus with advisees—and manage behavior.
- Advisors are responsible for ensuring (with support from school, HO, and coliseum staff) that their advisory safely moves from bus unloading to seats in the Coliseum.
- Advisors are responsible for managing student behavior and movement (with support from school staff) during event.
- If a student gets lost...
- Find a HO staff member—they will be in a blue DSST shirt. Let them know who you are looking for and provide relevant information about student.
- HO staff member will head to the lost/need help station (designated in the seating chart map) to look for student and notify staff here. If student is here, HO staff will return student to advisory.
- HO staff member will alert police personnel on site if student is not at lost/need help station.
- If a student needs to use the bathroom...
- Recommended that advisors send no more than one student at a time.
- Bathrooms will be staffed with HO staff.
- Advisors are responsible for ensuring (with support from school, HO, and coliseum staff) that their advisory safely moves from Coliseum to their bus loading. Schools will be dismissed by emcees.
FYI:
- Each school’s senior signing day team lead will designate each bus a number with bus signs that were sent via email. Please be sure to bring EVERYTHING off of the bus as some buses are not staying for the entire event. All students should bring their lunch into the Coliseum. Students are allowed to eat their lunch during the event. We will have trash bags placed throughout the arena.
- HO staff will greet advisors upon arrival at the Coliseum and help direct to entrance and seats.
- As the seating chart notes, there is...
- A first aid/nurse station. We will have two nurses at the venue.
- A mother’s room.
- A lost/need help station. This will be staffed throughout the event.
- A Safe Space for students in our Center Programs to go to if they need a break from the event.
- We will have three police personnel on site.
