SPF Results Released

Dear Team,

Today DPS released the 2018 School Performance Framework results, an annual evaluation of school performance across the district.  I want to congratulate you all on the fact that DSST ran 4 of the top 8 middle schools in Denver and 6 of the top 8 traditional high schools in Denver.

This continues our fourteen year track record of consistently running some of the best secondary schools in Denver. A few highlights:

• DSST: Byers was the #1 middle school in Denver for the 5th consecutive year
• DSST: Henry Middle School saw huge gains this year, rising from Yellow to Green Status.
• In our first year, DSST: Conservatory Green High School jumped to the top high school in the network, and the #2 high school in Denver, with Stapleton, Green Valley Ranch, Byers and Cole following close on its heels.  All 6 of our high schools were in the top 8 in Denver.

These results are a testament to you - our amazing teachers, leaders and staff members -  who work incredibly hard to create communities of academic excellence, creativity and belonging.  Here are the results of all of our schools:

While these results speak to excellence compared to other DPS schools, we know that these results are falling well short of our mission “to eliminate educational inequity.” Our achievement gaps are too large.  Our overall proficiency levels on our state tests fall short of what our students need. The variability of performance in our middle schools continues to be too wide and is falling short of the DSST standard of excellence.

All schools have set change goals that address the above challenges and aim to improve student outcomes.  We are all committed, as an organization, to achieving these goals.

It will take hard work from everyone on our team.  Like we ask of our students, it will require us to get better every day.  I know that we are up to the task, and I am impressed by the focused energy and work I see across our schools and Home Office to achieve our goals.  Thank you for your continued commitment. I am excited about the road ahead.
