While students across the network have been learning from home, the construction of the new Aurora Science & Tech building has been well underway. And now, Phase 1 of the building construction is complete! We are excited to share this special video that features a virtual tour of the new AST building, as well as the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Whenever we return to in person learning, the building is ready to welcome the 6th and 7th grade AST Owls. As of today, there’s a gym, cafeteria, and numerous classrooms. Phase 2, scheduled to begin next summer, will expand the building’s capacity to around 1,000 students, attaching a three story classroom wing. We’ll be adding a grade each year, with the school serving grades 6-12 at full build out, meaning there will be both a Middle and High School.
What makes the AST building incredibly exciting is its location on the CU Anschutz campus. Students will not only be able to see the CU Anschutz building from their classrooms, but will have real world learning opportunities in partnership with the research facility, with access to internships and much more.
