DSST Families,
Last week, DPS decided to cancel classes on March 19th to allow teachers more time to participate in the rally for education funding at the State Capitol. DSST fully supports joint efforts to increase education funding in Colorado. We will also cancel school on the 19th so that our staff can attend and participate in the rally.
The rally is a part of ongoing state-wide movement to significantly increase education spending to support public schools. Colorado is consistently in the bottom 10 states in the country for the amount of money it invests in public schools. This is unacceptable. DSST fully supports efforts to change this. All of our voices need to be heard on the 19th to send a loud and clear message to our political leaders
Please know that we understand that this unexpected change is inconvenient for families, and this decision was made due to the large number of teacher absences expected.
Team sports activities on the 19th will be handled on a school by school basis so you will hear from coaches accordingly. Please reach out to your School Leaders with any questions.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we allow our staff to have their voices heard.
Best,
Bill Kurtz
