Concurrent Instruction In Action

Posted by DSST Public Schools on 01/20/21
As you all know, during Hybrid School, DSST classrooms will engage in concurrent instruction. In this form of learning, students at home and students in person engage in learning within the same classroom at the same time.

In order to ensure our students receive the highest quality instruction during this period of concurrent learning, DSST has made a significant investment in cutting edge classroom technology, including OWL Pro Cameras that will allow students present in the classroom, students at home and the teacher to interact seamlessly with one another.

Teachers  are able to interact with both students at home and in the classroom using the Owl.

Students at home will be able to see, hear from, and speak to the entire class, and view the lesson materials.

Student learning at-home (yes, we know this is actually a classroom at Cole HS, but you get the point :) )

In person students will also be able to see, hear and interact with the virtual students through their computers.

In person students interact with the same deck/online materials as their at home counterparts, and can see their classmates on their screens

This technology also allows student schedules to remain consistent as we shift into Hybrid School and prevents the need for schedule changes should a student need, or a family decide, to shift from in person instruction to online instruction or vice versa.

Quick Tip!

We talked to Dylan Jensen, Math Teacher at AST MS, who shared a great tip on using the Owl:
