Giving & Cheer Day 4: Natalie Graebe on the Core Value of Courage

Posted by DSST Public Schools on 12/12/22

Hello! My name is Natalie Graebe and I am currently the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Aurora's first DSST school, Aurora Science & Tech. I also received the Core Value Award for Courage last year.

This is my sixth year with DSST and eighth year in the Denver/Aurora community. In 2014, as a new Denverite, I began the search for a recreational sports team to join, make new friends and stay active.

In my search, I stumbled upon Volo Play Mile High Sports and joined volleyball, softball and kickball leagues. The organization donates a percentage of the registration fees to their kids' leagues to provide free sports programming to kids in the Denver Metro area.

Since their inception, Volo Sports Kids has provided 447 leagues and served 22,169 kids across all city programs.  As a coach and supporter of kids' sports, I believe in the power of teamwork and dedication to build resilience in kids.  Having a space for kids to stay active, make friends, and give their efforts to a sport is something all kids should have access to, and through Volo Kids students have that opportunity. I am so proud to be making a financial contribution to an organization helping kids across Metro Denver experience sports, free of charge.
