Meet the CIA Team: Management Support for Schools

The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment team are the people who help schools on a day-to-day basis with support for things like ANET and iReady assessments, literacy intervention and much more. 

This team of ladies -- or the Ladies of the CIA if you will -- have a variety of responsibilities. Take a look below to see specific role descriptions and instructions to who does what on the CIA team.

Keena Day, M.A.

Vice President of Curriculum and Assessment 


Manager: Christine Nelson

  • Network-wide vision for educational programs and services 
  • Quality in all aspects of DSST’s  instructional and educational programs, and staff 
  • Multi-year tactical and annual instructional goals designed to implement the strategic goals of DSST
  • School lesson plan warehouse maintenance

Director of Language Acquisition

  • Work with teachers to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each child (25%)
  • Work with the community engagement coordinator to bring various literacy support to families and the community 
  • Student progress reporting 
  • Support of supervisors in implementing the school tier 1, 2, and 3 reading programs (iReady, Wilson) and ReadAct plan creation)
  • Diagnose reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate classroom techniques and materials. 
  • Parent communication 
  • Work with classroom teachers to monitor student progress and plan towards individualized student reading growth outcomes. 
  • Support the culturally-responsive, anti-bias and anti-racist mission of the school.
