What is the Transformational Teacher Working Group?
DSST continues to invest in our teachers, knowing your daily work has the most direct impact on our students. We also know that to succeed, this all-important, people-centered work must be done in close partnership with you. Given this, we are excited to continue our Transformational Teacher Working Group—composed of current DSST teachers—to advise on and guide DSST’s work to retain, sustain, and recruit incredible teachers now and in the future.
What does the Working Group do?
- Advise on Teacher Experience: Guide DSST’s efforts to retain, sustain, and recruit transformational teachers.
- Influence Key Decisions: Provide input on the network-level topics like the school calendar, Arc of the Year, and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate & Innovate: Work together to solve the toughest staff challenges facing public education today.
- Shape the Future: Help refine DSST’s Quantum 5 Culture and increase staff sustainability.
Who can join?
To be considered for this Working Group, teacher members must:
- Have Commitment: Attend 2-3 hours of meetings each month, either before or after school (team members will receive a stipend of $1,500/year, paid out in two equal payments once per semester), plus complete an additional 3-5 hours of meeting pre-work and/or action items.
- Show Passion for Improvement: Have a vested interest in refining DSST’s Quantum 5 culture and increasing staff sustainability by gathering peer feedback and sharing out Working Group work.
- Embrace an Innovative Mindset: Be willing to innovate and engage critically to solve the toughest staff challenges facing public education organizations like DSST today.
- Stand on the Balcony of Thinking: Be willing to represent teacher voices holistically, in service of meaningful solutions.
