Juniors go coast to coast with DSST’s DEEP college trips

Over Spring Break, a group of DSST juniors had the exciting opportunity to visit college campuses across the country through DSST’s Early Exposure Program (DEEP). Based on their college preferences, students traveled to Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Participants were selected for their academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and fit for the schools they visited.

Check out some highlights from their trips below:

Boston Trip: Boston University, Boston College, Tufts University, Harvard University, Northeastern University

"One of my favorite parts was watching the confidence students had in asking questions in a room of upwards of 100 people at these top universities during the info sessions. Chaperoning the Boston Deep Trip allowed me to see students in a different setting in which they experienced campuses that they otherwise would not have considered without this opportunity. My favorite college was Northeastern. It really surprised me with its amazing architecture and blend of modern and traditional buildings. I can't wait for next year's DEEP Trip." - Diter Mejia, counselor at DSST: Conservatory Green High School

Chicago Trip: University of Chicago,  Loyola Chicago University, DePaul University, Northwestern University

"Personally, I fell in love with U Chicago and the campus. It opened up a new perspective to me, and going on the trip and getting to see it in person and experience it gave me a real-life insight into what my life would be like if I attended college there. I would say some highlights from the trip were experiencing the city itself, from all of the buildings to the food and the people, and being able to prepare myself for the future and what it would be like to travel without my family- My favorite memory was the Wendella Boat Ride as I got to see and hear about all of the Architecture that makes Chicago. I would strongly encourage upcoming juniors to apply, as it is a great opportunity and you get to have a wonderful time with all kinds of different people." - Maheen Rahimi, junior at DSST: Green Valley Ranch

Los Angeles Trip: USC, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Pomona College, Loyola Marymount University, Occidental University
