As communicated in the compensation email you received today, DSST is committed to using our limited resources in the most impactful way. In order to do this, we have made the decision to change our medical insurance provider from Aetna to Kaiser Permanente effective July 1, 2018. Partnering with Kaiser will allow us to provide quality health plans without increasing the cost to our employees.

Honor and say "thank you" to our teachers

Let me suggest that there is a single thing you can do in your new role to improve education in Colorado, that won’t cost much money, doesn’t require legislative approval and is not controversial. It is also simple: find ways to say “Thank You” to teachers and other educators. Let them know how valuable they are to you and to America’s future.

At Our Core: Celebrating the foundation of DSST, our teachers

During the past several weeks, we have had so many reasons to celebrate: Our Senior Signing Day, Slice of Pi, producing the top SAT scores in the state, being named a Top Workplace, among others. All of these illustrate the deep and lasting impact DSST has on our students. It is our teachers who make that happen.

DSST schools make 'top high schools' list

Four DSST high schools earned recognition on the 2018 U.S News & World Report’s list of “Best High Schools in America,” including two which were included among the top 20 schools in Colorado. The magazine ranked DSST: Stapleton High School as the No. 2 school in Colorado while DSST: GVR was No. 15 in the rankings. DSST: College View and DSST: Cole both earned Bronze Medals. These seniors are defying the odds

Colorado School Talk attended DSST's Senior Signing Day last week and had the chance to speak with with remarkable student who was at one time homeless but now is headed to Stanford University. 

Teacher's Lounge: Jacquelyn Seigle

As a kid, Jacquelyn Seigle always enjoyed strength-based sports such as gymnastics. So it came as little surprise that when she needed physical therapy after a skiing accident in 2013, the strength-based exercises she now loves piqued her interest.

DSST schools earn ELPA Excellence Awards from CDE

For the third consecutive year, DPS was a district winner of CDE's ELPA Excellence Award for the 2017-18 school year, and DSST had four schools which earned recognition.

Teacher's Lounge: Brad Burck

Brad Burck’s dad is a 30-year vocational teacher, and made sure he taught his son just about everything he knows when it comes to being handy: welding, automotive repair, drafting, and carpentry. And while Burck, a seventh grade science teacher at DSST: GVR MS, has followed his parents’ footsteps into the teaching profession, those other skills have come in handy as he also makes and sells custom furniture on the side.

In 2012, Courtney DeAnda was involved in a terrible ski accident which resulted in a traumatic brain injury. As she recovered, she had to re-learn even simple tasks like walking and talking.
