As we touched upon in a previous Pet of the Week highlighting Australian Shepherd Manolo and his mom Yunuen Cisneros, we are in the midst of School Choice season, which comes to a close next Tuesday, February 18.
This week, we’re highlighting Tracey Gifford, Manager of Enrollment, and her Sheepdoodle Maevis Annabelle Emmylou Gifford. Tracey works closely with both the Onboarding, Recruitment, and Enrollment (ORE) team here at the Home Office and across schools, but also with our partners at DPS to ensure we hit our targets and our schools are fully enrolled.
Tracey & Southern Belle Maevis Annabelle Emmylou (aka Maevis or Mae) hit the road!
Maevis has been a member of the Gifford family since 2010, when they adopted her from the Denver Dumb Friends League when she was just 10 months old. As coincidence would have it, they learned soon after that her brother Fergus lived just around the corner from them and on the same street as Bill Kurtz! Theirs is a typical sibling relationship- quick sniff, and then ignore each other.
Maevis will celebrate her “sticks” of 11 this summer, but still gets out there to pursue her life’s work- squirrel hunting. She has not yet been successful, but still works hard every day on her 15 minute walk to catch one of those bold but elusive Denver squirrels.
Snow day squirrel hunting
Maevis has not been complaining about all of the snow, because it’s one of her favorite foods. On snow days, she likes to pretend she needs to go outside, and then heads to her bench for a snow cone buffet.
"I’m sensing notes of lavender and sage."
Maevis loves to stay cozy with a hoodie, especially during long car trips that her family often takes.
Maevis once wore a hoodie for the entire trip from Arkansas to Denver while sitting in her own seat
A bit of a trickster, Maevis doesn’t take too kindly to being left home alone, and pulls pranks in retaliation. Recently, she took a toilet paper roll and unrolled it carefully all the way from the bathroom, through the bedroom, and down the hallway without breaking it.
"Don’t leave, we have work to do! "
