At DSST, we know our families and parents are vital partners in student success. We also know that kids, no matter their age, do not come with instruction manuals and that there are often many questions parents and caregivers have around their adolescent students. We asked DSST teachers, staff, and parents for their favorite resources to help answer some of the frequently asked questions about raising adolescents; check out this collection of their book recommendations and additional resources for families of middle and high school aged kids:

This May, DSST Public Schools completed our 15th school year. Our first school, DSST: Montview High School (formerly DSST: Stapleton) opened in the Stapleton neighborhood of Denver in the fall of 2004. In the 15 years since, we have opened 14 schools on 8 campuses and will expand into Aurora, Colorado this fall with the opening of Aurora Science & Tech Middle School.
Olivia, a 9th grader at DSST: Conservatory Green High School, testified at the State Capitol back in January to advocate for a bill that would automatically enroll high performing high school students into advanced classes.
Every one of our graduating seniors has a fascinating story to tell - and there are some we have been fortunate enough to learn about through a short but powerful 500 word college essay. One of those is DSST: Cole senior Reem , who opened up about shattering beauty norms that were unconsciously enforced by both family members and society at large.
