On March 26, DSST high school students will have the opportunity to explore and connect with 30+ colleges and universities from around the country at the Colorado Convention Center. In addition to a traditional college fair, students will be able to take advantage of breakout sessions geared toward preparing students for success on the road to and through college.
This week, we have guest writer and Montview MS Writing teacher PJ Shields taking over and sharing the heartwarming story of her cat, Ghost.
8th graders from CGMS will showcase their original art creations that celebrate women who catalyzed positive change.
DSST continually reviews the funds offered to staff through our 401k retirement program to ensure that we are offering a range of high quality investment options. We will be closing our JHancock Disciplined Value Fund and replacing it with T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund. While we’ve seen some very notable and accomplished cats and dogs grace the pages of the Helix blog, let’s just say it- there’s been an embarrassing lack of animal diversity. That’s why we were especially excited when Natalie Thorsland, Support Specialist with Affective Needs Center students at DSST: Henry, reached out with not just her 2 dogs, but 10 pet reptiles.

At College View High School, students have been preparing for their ACCESS exams, which assess English proficiency. When they pass the test, they receive a biliteracy seal. To help get students and staff excited about acing these tests, CV HS has a resident hype man, Sal the Seal of Biliteracy.

On January 23, over 200 community members from the Far Northeast community came out to the DPS Board Meeting to advocate for a DSST High School @ Noel. We overflowed the board room as we supported the 5 public comments speakers- one from School Director Brandi Chin, two from students, and two from parents.
Four years ago, Jim and Teresa Berryman launched the Ariel Berryman Memorial Scholarship Fund after the loss of their daughter, Ariel. Ariel’s passion for helping others reach their full potential inspired the creation of this scholarship. Each year, the Ariel Berryman Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a female senior graduating from DSST Public Schools with a scholarship to attend the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver). This fund is matched dollar-for-dollar by CU Denver.
