In today’s difficult times, with a seemingly endless stream of bad news and more time spent at home, many of us are turning to numerous vices furry friends, both old and new, to help us conquer the challenges. This week, we are highlighting a new puppy, Bonnie, adopted by Godfrey De La Hoz, Social Studies teacher at Noel MS.
Did you know that September is National Suicide Prevention Month? This is a sensitive topic, but especially during these challenging times, we want to ensure that our staff and families have all the support they need to understand the warning signs and access the resources available.
While students across the network have been learning from home, the construction of the new Aurora Science & Tech building has been well underway. And now, Phase 1 of the building construction is complete! We are excited to share this special video that features a virtual tour of the new AST building, as well as the ribbon cutting ceremony.
As you likely know, we've been advocating for a Noel High School for our Bulldogs in the Far Northeast. From turning out hundreds of community members at DPS board meetings to gathering 1,000+ signatures on a petition (thank you for signing and showing your support!) the journey to open a Noel High School continues and we aim to keep you in the loop. This article highlights this work as well as a board meeting held earlier this week where the opening of a Noel High School was discussed. We will do everything in our power to open a Noel High School that will offer the same high-quality education that we strive to provide our middle school students.
From medical benefits to 401k and everything in between, the Talent Operations team is always working to help team members from across the network have access to the resources they need to stay healthy. Ashley Wiegner, Director of Talent Operations, leads the TOps team at the Home Office. This week, we’re featuring her adorable rescue Franklin as Pet of the Week!
Anna is an exceptional addition to the DSST community. Having transitioned into her role while we were in a virtual environment, she has taken on the tremendous challenge of operating online assessments and being an all-star Caregiver. Read about Anna’s real life parenting woes, notably with Moana on replay, while being a fully committed team member at DSST Public Schools.
