Good Works
Denver Business Journal:
While Denver stay-at-home orders will be lifted in just a few days, the future still remains uncertain. Nevertheless, keeping spirits high is essential to strong mental and physical health. This week’s challenge is focused on joy, hope, and entertainment, and K-12 students across Colorado will have the opportunity to design a toy that can be created with a 3D printer, or write an original song! We hope you will encourage all of your students and any K-12 Colorado student you may know to participate in this week’s creative challenge! This week’s sponsor, the Denver Botanic Gardens, are giving away a family pack of four tickets for a joyful stroll through the gardens.

It would be impossible for DSST to have the impact that it does without its amazing teachers and staff. Each day, they tirelessly help our students become the best versions of themselves. That’s why we’re happy to give much-deserved special recognition during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8.
Charter School Growth Fund:
We are thrilled to share some optional and fun programming we will be hosting on DSST Wellness Day this Friday, May 1st. First and foremost we want you to know that this day is for YOU. Please spend it in a way that best serves you and your family’s well being - so if that looks like completely unplugging from DSST, please do that!
In a world of information overload, we all know that sifting through the many messages and news we receive on a daily, if not hourly basis, can be a challenge. It is compounded by fake news that continues to pervade social media platforms and websites. In times of pandemic, where emotions are already running high, fake news can be even more incendiary and harmful. For this week’s Project: Create challenge, K-12 students will have the opportunity to create a public service announcement or visual art piece (and perhaps, both!) addressing a societal issue in a factual way. The winners will receive 4 entry tickets and a gift basket from this week’s sponsor, the Denver Museum of Art, and will be featured on TV!
As you all know, the principles of equity and access are core to our approach to E-School and, as always, our Special Education Teachers are key players in ensuring we fulfill this commitment to all of our students.
