Project: Create Week 2 Challenge is Here!

Last week, we kicked off Project: Create, a series of weekly STEM challenges for K-12 students across Colorado. Every Wednesday, our media partner CBS4 will be announcing the winners of the previous week’s challenge, and will kick off the new one. Stay tuned for the story later this afternoon! These virtual contests not only get K-12 students to think creatively as they dive into a new project, but also have the extra incentive of great prizes and a chance to be featured on TV! We hope that you were able to share this opportunity with students last week, and will continue to do so over the next 5 week, whether during your advisories or in a Morning Meeting.

We wish we were counting down the days until Senior Signing Day, originally scheduled for April 29, 2020, but instead we’re busy coming up with alternate ways to celebrate the amazing Class of 2020 amidst this global pandemic. Employee Benefits Resources for COVID-19

• Adding coverage: If you or a member of your immediate family loses insurance coverage you are qualified to join DSST’s plans (click here to view details on qualifying life events). Team members can follow this guide to initiate a “qualifying life event” in the Workday benefits app. You will be required to submit proof of loss of coverage (a letter from the company/provider stating the date you lost coverage is sufficient) and complete your benefits enrollment within 30 days after the last day of coverage for you/your family member. Please reach out to your campus dedicated HR representative or humanresources@scienceandtech.org if you need support.

• FSA: if an impact of COVID-19 has caused you to need to change your FSA contributions moving forward you can submit a request in Workday for a qualifying life event (see guides above):

1. For example: if your daycare is closed due to COVID-19 therefore you would like to change your FSA contributions moving forward. Note: you will need to submit documentation for your life event to be approved such as a letter/documentation that the daycare is closed.
